the days home
the snow came and went. and came and went again. it was pretty extreme on the first go around. this was the first real storm that i can remember in the last couple years. my work shut down for a couple of days. i went to work the first day of the snow and at around 8:30 they said the buildings had closed. drove home at 9:30 and it was one of the worst drives i can ever remember. it was good being home though. katie had fun in the snow. i've gotten to spend a lot of time with her lately with kim in dallas. feels like she's been there a week already. i gotta wait until friday before she gets back. what a long week. i put 'mean streets' on and baked some chicken nuggets. see i could survive as a single parent.

the meat
my right forearm has been hurting lately. i think it's carpel tunnel . for probably five hours out of every work day, my hand just sits on the mouse. there is no pad for support and now i'm paying for it. my personal massage therapist was kind enough to apply some pressure to it last night. it was dreamy. my adviser has recommended i file a disability claim. i'm taking it under consideration.
the oscars are tonight. surprisingly, i haven't see a single movie from the best picture category. most of them are in my blockbuster queue, but i've lost that spark to go watch these movies alone in a theater.
i would do anything for love, but i won't quit smack. the meatloaf song has been in and out of my head these past couple of weeks. i don't know what it means. i've been trying to figure out what "that" is. i can think of a few guesses. even my dreams haven't been able to escape the meat.
happy birthday to madison k. she'll be a whopping two on tuesday. level 3 is going great, despite the current stock price. the weather is getting nice. thoughts of camping are dancing in my head. no change with torn city. i'm kind of stuck in a rut there. watching sopranos season four on dvd. forgot how amazing that show is. and the cadbury cream eggs keep on coming.

the doctor shows
vacations. where should i go this year? probably not out of the country. somewhere with a hard rock of course. i'm thinking seattle. phoenix maybe. those are close. it's gotta be somewhere though. hard to plan with a little girl.
i'm watching grey's anatomy and what a joke. this is the worst hospital ever. these people are all having sex with each other and are the most unprofessional and dysfunctional doctors ever. worse than the idiots on scrubs. every doctor show is stupid. every cop show too for that matter. except life on mars. that is actually kind of interesting. back to grey's...lesbo doctors making out, doctor's having sex and breaking a bone. the bone. tonight is a "crossover" with another stupid doctor show called 'private practice'. these doctor shows make me sick.
it's hard to believe all this michael phelps uproar. the stupid cereal maker dropped him as a sponsor and now he's banned from swim meets for a few months. i even saw an article tonight saying a pot scandal jolts japan's sumo world. what is this world coming to?? phelps is the greatest olympian of our time. sumo wrestlers are the fattest guys of our time. if they want a little dub, then so what? what is the harm to the world? kids will be disappointed in their olympic hero? six year old swimmers won't understand or find out. older swimmers or sumo wrestlers that look up to these guys won't care either. if there are some that are really bothered by phelps on a bong, then i am sure it is a small percentage of folks. it's just mind boggling. but it is good to see that phelps is just as human as the rest of us. he's already the king of the world. phelps should quit swimming and move to jamaica. or maybe just swim there.

the chin whiskers
*sigh*
where to begin? but really, who cares?
couple things. i hate social networking. tomorrow would be a great day if the myspace and facebook servers crashed and just disappeared. what a hassle these things are. i have no picture on facebook and a profile that may as well not exist. yet i get people wanting to be my "friends" on there almost daily. funny thing is that 90 percent of these "friends" are already "friends" with me on myspace. i only signed up for facebook to see a blunder that my buddy made on there with one of the labels of his pictures. then come to find out, i couldn't view his pics until we were "friends". by that time i didn't care to go look (and i'm sure he fixed it). so i think i'll be deleting my blank facebook profile soon. as far as myspace is concerned, i view it only as a portal to this here blog. i don't care about comments, bands, pictures, emails, groups, "friends", and advertisements. of course, i care about my friends, just not my "friends". myspace has sucked from the beginning anyway. it was never user friendly and i remember complaining about so many things from that stupid site. you wanna talk to me? telecommastere@gmail.com. i also have a cellular phone that sits in my pants pocket. you wanna see pics of me? meet me at old chicago on 88th and wads this friday night. are you out of town? then i'll send you naked pictures of me to your email. i can be very accommodating. but i don't need ten different social network websites to stay in touch. i don't need social networking sites for my career friends. i don't need social picture website. i don't need socialist websites. actually, well, never mind. i'll save socialism for another day. enough of this crap already. the fad is over.
*sigh*
my little girl is doing good. like all kids, she's getting big and talking more and more. she loves telling stupid jonas "no no no no" when he jumps on the kitchen counters. she knows how to laugh like ernie from sesame street. he kind of does that wispy kind of heeheehee. katie is still the sweetest thing. if she sees a stuffed animal, she'll go over and give it a kiss. when i come home from work, she will run up to me and kiss my leg, then turn and run away. she takes after her dad and loves to read. when the mrs. and i are in the kitchen talking, my little girl is happy enough to go to her books and just sift through every one she has. she loves when i put on my ipod and play my guitar to it. katie always wants to take the pick and strum it for me. then we'll rock out to everything under the sun. she likes zeppelin, the dead, and enya. kim bought her the enya cd, but mainly just to put the girl to sleep. i'm down with that though. enya has the cool spiritual quality about it. one of my favorite things to do is to take little girl into the backyard during the night time. i love showing her all that the night has to offer. i think she enjoys it as well.
i shaved my stupid goatee tonight. i hate the word, so henceforth i will refer to it as my chin whiskers. people often tell me that they prefer me with chin whiskers. that just tells me that people would rather not look at me. the more i can cover up my face, the better. i'm surprised i haven't been told that i'd look good with a bag over my head. but i shaved it tonight finally. just needed some change i guess. and besides, chin whiskers like mine haven't been "in" for about four years at least. it was a 90s thing i think. my work folks will be in for a surprise i imagine. i don't recall not having chin whiskers since i started there almost two years ago. they will probably tell me to put a bag over my head. maybe if i get a promotion one of these years, then i will grow it back. or something back. handlebar 'stashe perhaps?
hard to believe that cadbury cream eggs were already for sale in january. cream eggs are a guilty pleasure of mine. i love them. i just do. one was consumed probably four minutes ago. another will be consumed during my lunch tomorrow. between now and april, i will likely consume 300 lbs of cream eggs.
well that's enough for one night, maybe even for one month. it's 10:32 p.m. so i have about a half hour to read my riveting book i got for christmas. *sigh* night.

the needle and blood
i don't have much to say. i'm watching the movie 'unforgiven' with commentary from some random film critic i've never heard of. kim and i were watching 'goodfellas' earlier tonight. another amazing movie is 'there will be blood'. probably the best movie i've seen from '07. not sure i'd want to see it over and over. not like unforgiven and goodfellas. a movie that's not so great is '21'. i suppose it could be entertaining for the simple-minded. the movie is basically 'ocean's 11', meets 'casino', meets the movie where the high schoolers try to steal the SAT answers. i never saw that last movie, by the way. 21 is so very predictable. and cheap. bad editing too. lawrence fishburn isn't that bad though.
nothing is really going on. katie is as cute as ever. she can get a little feisty though. i'm getting into the holiday mind frame i guess. torn city is going well. i own a good law firm and right now i'm on a plane to the UK.
my job is so-so. thursday was such an up and down day. started out usual for about an hour. then we had an all-hands meeting with my boss's boss's boss's boss's boss (there are two more above that last boss; i have a ways to go). we have lots of 'all-hands' with various big-wigs all throughout the year. usually the same stuff is said and the same questions are asked. then back to my office to answer a few emails before driving home. once home we had to give a physical for life insurance. i had to give blood which made a nightmare of a week leading up to this day. a nightmare is an understatement. it was the hardest thing i've done since getting my masters. left back to work and stopped at chipotle first. i figured i deserved a good lunch. brought it back to work. worked. i was so out of it after having to give blood. i seemed to barely form sentences when i was talking to my boss. she probably though i was high. told her i probably would go home early but realized i could close out a case which had been due that day. i would have been pissed if i missed my date. i had been pretty down these past few days because i was expecting to miss the date. things turned around at the last minute though and i was able to get the job finished. that reminds me to shoot an email over to the guy that really made things work out. finally went home around 5:30. so i guess it was a good and bad day mostly. friday was nuts too but i'll spare the details.
so i'd much rather be laying on the couch watching this movie than sitting at a tv dinner tray on my laptop. the film critic is not so bad. critics seem to provide much better commentaries than the dumb actors of the movie. i'm beat. time to get horizontal.

the greatest day
it's pretty great watching history in the making like this. ohio just went to obama which will pretty much seal the deal i think. all of those naive and ignorant people out there can move to kansas or alabama. kentucky has some room for you too. all those people who failed to get informed or were duped by all of mccain and palin's attacks on obama's character and ideals can just stop being a part of the u.s. electoral process. all of those uneducated hillbillies who lack common sense should not waste our time. of course, not all mccain supporters will fit that mold. some wanted mccain for military experience, political experience, hot VP, etc. and that's cool. but those that counted out obama because of stupid catch phrases from his opponents, like he was pallin' with terrorists or he's a socialist, those people can go crawl back into their ignorant holes. and for anyone who voted against him because of the color of his skin, well, you all can go to hell. this country believed in this man, not because of his democratic views or his swagger, but because of who he is and what we believe he will do for this country. barack obama will lead this country like no other in recent memory. we are all so lucky to be alive during this time. i'm very thankful for this country and our democratic process. god bless this country and our next president. seriously.
palin, get the hell out of the lower 48 and get your hot ass back on a plane to alaska. and don't come back!
joe the plumber, be an american and go pay your taxes.
as for me, i'm moving to massachusetts. all states need to follow lead; decriminalize baby!

the 2008 election
watching 10,000 B.C. why do they all have british accents? are they trying to be "exotic" to the american audience? this is very similar to apocalypto, just with giant extinct animals. special effects were decent. the giant dinosaur turkeys actually looked somewhat real.
had a nice halloween. no parties, no costume, no booze. just good old fashion minnie mouse. our little girl did really good. we hit up probably twelve houses until some crazy skeleton thing yelled out and made her curl her lip and sob. i think she really enjoyed being out and seeing all of the other kids. i know she enjoyed seeing all of our neighbor's doggies. she is a very brave girl. not afraid of doggies or spiders. but stupid battery operated skeletons she can't take.
i enjoyed obama's tv special. it was very moving which i'd expect nothing less from him. the election is over. i'm not saying people should not vote at this point. everyone should vote and if everyone does then it'll only ensure his victory. but really, the election is done. the electorals are his. the popular vote is his. even if the popular vote is as close as some of the polls say they are, who cares? obama has enough of the states that matter to be the next pres. the old man and hot chick from alaska need to just step aside.
lately i've been spending a lot of my time in the city of torn. it's a nice place, light crime, good weather. i'm looking into buying a law firm. and my wife has been begging me to buy her a new car. she doesn't even have a drivers license yet! but she is a good torn city wife.
school is over. work is good. monday will be a good day because i'll start doing the work i've been wanting to do all along. well, that's all for one night. i hope for many more lucid dreams to come.

the speech
back from the cu game where we ate up some goat tonight. a lot of the time while i sat and watched, i couldn't help but think that just three nights ago i was across the field watching obama give the speech of a lifetime. thursday night was so amazing. it was all so powerful and full of energy. after witnessing something like that, i can't imagine anyone voting for mccain. although, this new chica from alaska certainly adds a little more excitement to things. this move was pretty smart on mccain's part. i'm really looking forward to any debates that happen between her and biden. who cares about all of these other people though. everything is about obama now. the past couple of years i supported obama only second to the junior senator from new york. now i'm with him all of the way. being at the convention did it for me. i've never seen anything like that before. anyway, each his own. i'd recommend anyone go to youtube and check out his speech if they missed it on tv. i look forward to watching mccain's as well. there is really no way he can top what obama did though. hopefully the protesting that happens at the rnc will take away any bit of spark the repubs can muster.
i can't wait for gta4 to come out on pc. to bide my time i have been playing torn city. it's kind of lame but kind of fun all at once. and it's free! peace.
